A tour of the Beijing-Hyundai Automotive factory in Shunyi, near Beijing, a joint venture between Korean car-maker Hyundai Motors and China-based Beijing Automotive. Instead of manufacturing Hyundai's global designs for international export, the plant manufactures specifically for domestic Chinese consumption, producing vehicles tailored to Chinese consumer tastes. This has enabled the company to expand its market share rapidly and become one of the leading players in the Chinese car market, soon to be the world's largest. Of particular note is that over half Beijing's taxis are made by Hyundai-Beijing. This shoot was an assignment organised by South China Morning Post.
